QuickBooks is rolling out a Buy Now, Pay Later payment option on invoices through a partnership with Affirm. This update affects invoices you send to your customers, not invoices you receive.

Important clarification

This applies when you invoice your own customers.
Your customers may see an Affirm payment option when they view and pay your QuickBooks invoice. Nothing changes when you are paying bills or invoices from vendors.

How This Works in Practice

For you, the business owner sending invoices

There is nothing you need to set up. If you already use QuickBooks Online Payments and accept credit cards, Affirm may automatically appear as a payment option on invoices you send. You still receive the full invoice amount upfront once your customer is approved by Affirm.

Processing fees remain the same as standard credit card payments, currently 2.99% per transaction. Deposit timing and reconciliation work exactly the same as other payment types like credit cards or ACH.

QuickBooks handles the accounting side cleanly, so your books stay straightforward.

For your customers

When your customer opens your invoice, they may see Affirm as a payment option.

If they qualify, they can choose to pay the invoice over time in installments. Affirm manages that financing relationship directly with your customer. You are not responsible for collections or follow-up related to the installment plan.

For your workflow

There are no changes to how you create, send, or track invoices.

You send invoices the same way you always have. Payments still sync automatically. Reconciliation stays inside QuickBooks with no extra steps.

Availability and Eligibility

This feature will be rolled out automatically on a rolling basis to U.S.-based QuickBooks Online users who:

  • Use QuickBooks Online Payments

  • Have credit card payments enabled

There is no opt-in required.
